Comic: The Life of Barbara McClintock and her Jumping Gene

This is the story about the incredible and eccentric geneticist Barbara McClintock, as she faced many gender-based obstacles in her career in genetics in maize.

Barbara McClintock went on to be the first woman to receive an unshared Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. In fact, as of 2024, McClintock is still the only woman to receive the Nobel Prize in that category unshared.

I developed this comic largely based on the 1983 biography of Barbara McClintock, "A Feeling for the Organism: The Life and Work of Barbara McClintock" by Evelyn Fox Keller.
